“A large bee buzzed by him with a huge smile on it’s face. She looked strangely familiar. “Bees are important you know” it murmured.”
Otoshimono - the lost and found is the story of two characters (Asa & Ai) who feel trapped and misunderstood within their families. Both Asa and Ai decide to run away to escape their situations and hopefully find where they belong. Their stories mirror each other in parallel worlds and delve into various themes such as consumerism, self-awareness and independence, ego, family and the Japanese state of mind known as ‘Mushin’. The story is told through a series of digital prints as well as narrative (colouring pages). The exhibition showed at No Vacancy Gallery from September 29th to October 19th, 2014.
